School Psychologist

A school psychologist is provided by the Department of Education. Their role is to assess students experiencing difficulties with learning and to make recommendations. To access this service, a referral is completed by the class teacher and/or Principal and this will take place after matters have been discussed with the parents.

Parents with concerns about their child should discuss these with their child’s teacher, who may deem it appropriate to make a referral. Access to the School Psychologist is prioritised on a “needs” basis and may, at times, call for quite a lengthy waiting time.
